Embodyment Yoga Therapy

What is Embodyment® Yoga Therapy?
By Janice (Jayashree) O’Brien of Bliss Through Yoga, Embodyment® Yoga Therapist, Svaroopa® Yoga and Mindfulness & Yoga for Kids Teacher

Embodyment® Yoga Therapy is a highly effective bodywork technique which targets the muscles at the base of the spine to release tension and bring the mind, body and spirit back into alignment. It’s profoundly relaxing, and healing. The results of just one session is equivalent to several yoga classes, greatly magnifying the benefits. It’s easier than a yoga class, and deeper and longer-lasting than a traditional massage.

No previous yoga experience is required for a therapy session. Depending on the health of each client, sessions may include coaching in breath work, fully supported yoga poses and lying in Shavasana, yoga’s relaxation pose, as you receive Embodyment® yoga therapy. For those with injuries or chronic conditions, these sessions can provide relief from pain and speed up the healing process. For those in good health, the therapy releases tensions and helps to support your healthy lifestyle.

The healing effects of the treatment will continue long after the session has ended.

A systematic Embodyment® treatment plan can help clear up many long-standing conditions that yoga poses often cannot reach. It can benefit¬ a wide variety of mental and physical ailments including: back, shoulder and neck pain; jaw and sinus problems; headaches; PMS and menopausal symptoms; sciatica and stress-related disorders, just to name a few.

In a nutshell, Embodyment® Yoga Therapy releases chronic tension, facilitates the body’s natural capacity to heal itself, and improves total body functioning.
